When it came to designing Natalie Portman's engagement ring, the star’s choreographer fiancé, Benjamin Millepied, relied on his leading lady and the art of ballet for inspiration. Looking to create a one-of-a-kind love token to reflect Portman’s unique sensibilities, Millepied called on former dancer pal and jewelry designer Jamie Wolf. “Ben was exceptionally thoughtful and dedicated and patient to make sure we had everything right,” Wolf explained to InStyle. “We wanted everything about the ring to speak to things that are important to Natalie.” The glittering diamond-encrusted design centers around an antique diamond, surrounded by certified conflict-free stones and made of recycled platinum — thus appealing to Portman’s earth-friendly and vegan lifestyle. And much like Millepied, the designer always incorporates her own dance discipline into her pieces.

Charlene Wittstock is going to be a bellisima bride. Not only does she have Grace Kelly looks, but Italian designer Giorgio Armani has let it slip he's the royal couturier for her outdoor July wedding to Prince Albert of Monaco.

The 76-year-old Armani told several Italian newspapers, including Affari Italiani, at his Jan. 16 Milan fashion show, "Yes, I will declare, I will make the royal wedding dress."

Armani's representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. While there's been no confirmation from the tiny principality, Armani's declaration makes fashion sense: Wittstock, a former Olympic swimmer, complained to Tatler last year that she had such bad style instincts she once stepped out dressed like a Christmas tree. Armani, who has recently dressed Wittstock for several important events, seems to have played a significant role in cultivating the beauty's increasingly regal style.

The 32-year-old princess-to-be has been at Armani's couture shows in Paris for the past two years. She was his well-dressed guest at the May 2010 amfAR's Cinema Against Aids Gala in France. She also got raves for the Armani suit she wore to Monaco's National Day this spring and wowed in a blush, Armani one-shoulder column dress at Monaco's 62nd Red Cross Ball in July.

Armani, of course, is no stranger to dressing royals. In June 2010 for the nuptials of Sweden's Princess Victoria, he outfitted Queen Rania of Jordan, Queen Paola of the Belgians, Princess Mathilde of Belgium, Princess Astrid of Belgium and Wittstock in Armani Privé gowns. He also dresses lots of Hollywood royalty, producing Anne Hathaway's sexy, sparkling bronze-hued column dress for the 2011 Golden Globes.

He was a royal prince, eldest son of Jordan's King Hussein. She was a polished executive-in-training from a middle-class Palestinian doctor's family. King Hussein's mother, Queen Zein, is said to have prophetically told Queen Rania she was destined to be "the diamond" in the reigning Hashemite family. Their June 10 wedding was a glittering affair. At the time, Prince Abdullah was not the nation's crown prince. That title was held by King Hussein's brother, Prince Hassan, for years the assumed heir to the throne. Still, as oldest son of King Hussein's 12 children, his marriage was feted as a grand state occasion.

When Arab-American beauty Elizabeth (Lisa) Najeeb Halaby met the late King Hussein of Jordan at an Amman airport ceremony in 1976 it was the beginning of an improbable royal fairy-tale.

The Princeton-educated daughter of an Arab-American airline executive was working with her father (a friend of the king's) on a consulting project. The stunning and articulate young woman, who would become Jordan's Queen Noor, has said there were no special "sparks" on that fateful day.

At last, the breathless speculation is over. Prince William and his longtime girlfriend, Kate Middleton, are getting married, it was announced this morning. They'll wed in London in the spring or summer of 2011.

The couple, both 28, became engaged last month during a vacation in Africa.  "I took her out somewhere nice in Kenya, and I proposed," said William in the couple's first joint TV interview, which aired today.

William gave Kate his mother's engagement ring, an oval blue sapphire surrounded by diamonds from the jeweler Garrard.

"It was my way of making sure that my mother didn't miss out on today," he said. William's mother, Princess Diana, was killed in a 1997 car crash.

William said he'd been carrying the gem around with him in his rucksack for three weeks while on vacation, nervously checking to make sure it was still there.
